Definition: A base grind is a special snowboard tuning application whereby the base of the snowboard is ground with a hard stone (often imparted with diamond dust) to restore it to its factory state. A base grind (otherwise known as a stone grind) removes imperfections, light damage, and imparts a lined structure to the P-tex base that allows the snowboard to slide easily over many different types of snow.
