Tara Dakides Background Information:

Tara Dakides is a natural athlete. She doesn’t just hang with the boys; she rides better than most of them. Dakides grew up in Laguna Hills, California as a skateboarder and gymnast and quickly took to surfing, motocross and later snowboarding.

She started riding when she was 18 years old, which is a late start for somebody who would become the best in the world. Fortunately she was a fearless rider with instinctual athleticism, and it didn’t take her long to become the top female in the sport. She started dominating competitions just a few of years after she learned to snowboard and took first place in the Van’s Triple Crown big air competition in 1998. Few women could imitate her 180 backflip, so she held her spot on top of the female competitive circuit for years.
