Question: How Do I Fit My Snowboard Boots?
How do I fit my snowboard boots? This is a question I get asked time and time again - and that's a VERY good thing! The fit of your snowboard boots is one of the most important factors relating to your enjoyment of the sport; a few minutes spent reading this piece will go a long way towards ensuring a great day snowboarding!
Answer: Snowboard boots should be snug. A boot that is too large will allow your foot to slosh around inside, leading to decreased control and a greater chance of injury. A good rule of thumb is to take your street shoe size and go down one half-size. Why one half-size? Snowboard boots will "pack out," meaning the liner will compress after two or three days of use. A boot sized per your street shoe size, after packing out, will eventually be too big. By allowing for one half-size of pack-out (or compression), you will end up with a snowboard boot with a perfect fit!
