Definition: The definition of snowmaking is any technology that combines air and water at high pressure to make snow. A typical snowmaking system utilizes pipes and hoses to transport water and compressed air up a mountain before combining the air and water and shooting the mixture out of a snowmaking gun. The technology is heavily used by ski and snowboard resorts.
Pronunciation: [snoh] [mey-king]
Also Known As: Man-made or artificial snow.
Examples:
My local resort beefed up their snowmaking system this summer, so they should be able to open even earlier this season.
