The moment I learned the iPhone 3G would include a GPS radio, I began pining for a 3rd party application that would allow me to track my tracks, so to speak, across the mountain and then upload the digital evidence of my day on the slopes to my computer. Fortunately, it didn't take long for my wish to be granted - The guys at Big Air Software came through in the clutch when they released their iTrailmap 3D app for the iPhone 3G.

Retailing for $4.99, iTrailmap 3D pulls from a database of over 500 resort trail maps. Download the map for your resort, activate your iPhone 3G's GPS radio, and voila! Your tracks will be recorded throughout the day. When you've finished making turns for the day, you can upload your tracks to the 3D Skier.com website, allowing you to catalog and share your snowboard adventures for years to come.

In addition to the application's GPS tracking abilities, it also allows you to view the trail map for whatever resort you're currently riding, assuming said resort is amongst the 500+ resorts currently in Big Air's database. If you find yourself at a resort not currently supported by the application, simply drop an e-mail request to the guys at Big Air and they'll get the resort online ASAP. For $4.99, what more could you ask for?!

The iTrailmap 3D app is currently available from the iTunes App Store.
