Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! The Christmas blizzard of 2010 has officially hit the East Coast of the U.S., dropping anywhere from 14" to 24" of fluffy white snow across the region. Ski and snowboard resorts couldn't be happier, as the storm arrived just in time for the big Christmas vacation period.
I work as a part-time ski/snowboard instructor at Okemo Mountain Resort in Vermont, where we picked up between 16" to 18" of new snow. Today's open trail count of 84 trails is sure to expand in the coming days! Up the road, Killington is reporting 14" new, while the snow continues to fall in Northern New England, blessing Stowe with 3-5". Not to be outdone, Central Park in New York City is reporting over 20" - while they don't "need" the snow, it will certainly have people thinking about skiing and riding in the coming days!
If you have some time off this week, the conditions couldn't be better for skiing and riding. Start planning your trip NOW!
