Warren Miller's Wintervention

From Christopher Del Sole, About.com GuideNovember 15, 2010

The Warren Miller crew was in my neck of the woods this past weekend, which was as good an excuse as any to watch a little ski porn. Wintervention is the venerable company's 61st feature film, and as usual, delivered on all fronts. Olympic gold medalist Jonny Moseley continues to narrate the films in Warren Miller's absence (the last film he officially narrated was back in 2004).

I thought this year's movie was better than those in year's past, but only because of the theme. The footage was the same collection of jaw-dropping landscapes, exotic locales, and impressive athletic feats that we have come to expect, but the theme was one that struct a particular chord with me - that of an utter obsession with all things snow!

As in years past, the film was heavily biased towards skiing, with roughly 10% of the footage dedicated to snowboarders. With that said, it's still a valuable, fun flick to see, regardless of your snow discipline, because it represents the start of the new season. There's nothing like getting several hundred rabid skiers and snowboarders together before the start of a new season - the energy and excitement for that first snowfall is palpable!

Warren Miller's Wintervention continues to show across the country. Check out the Wintervention website for information on when it's showing in your area!

(1) how to snowboard :

I’m just getting started with snowboarding and it’s awesome to see such a huge community on the web. Warrens’ website is definitely a great zone to see what the pros are doing out there. Thanks for sharing this site.
