Killington, a.k.a. The Beast of the East, has opened for business! The resort, which has long had a reputation for opening early and closing late, officially dropped the ropes early on Tuesday, November 2nd. Current terrain offerings are limited to the upper mountain area, specifically on North Ridge, which is being accessed by the K-1 Gondola (for uploading/downloading only) along with the new Peak Walkway, which makes its debut this year.
The newly constructed "feat of engineering," as the resort is touting, takes the place of a formerly terrifying ride in a the back of a pickup truck (never an easy feat with people standing in ski boots surrounded by sharp metal edges), and will be used to provide access to the snow for early and late season skiing and riding only.
Current ticket prices are $49 for adults, $42 for young adults and seniors, and $34 for junior/senior plus tickets. Today's snow report is claiming 5 open trails, along with early season rail/park features.
