Men's Halfpipe results are in from Cypress Mountain in Vancouver, with American Shaun White taking the Gold medal. White becomes the first snowboarder to ever successfully defend the Gold medal in halfpipe, having previously won in 2006 in Torino, Italy. Peetu Piiroinen from Finland finished second to take the Silver, with American Scotty Lago rounding out the top three for the Bronze.
It was a night to remember for sure - White threw down a nearly flawless first run, putting down back-to-back double-cork 1080s - the trick that's been the talk of the halfpipe circuit this season. With the Gold safely secured after his first run, he was able to demonstrate exactly why he's the best halfpipe rider on the planet, wowing the crowd with his newest trick, the Double McTwist 1260.
Here's a rundown of where the American Medalists finished:
- Shaun White: Gold Medal
- Scotty Lago: Bronze Medal
Congrats to Shaun White, Peetu Piiroinen, and Scotty Lago!

Shawn is so amazing to watch. ..what a pro
I couldn’t agree more, Morgan. I actually believed Shaun White was “done” last year. I figured he’d been on top for so long, it was only a matter of time before one of the new young guns eclipsed him. Boy, was I wrong!
Once I saw the footage of him practicing out at Silverton, I knew he was a near lock for another Olympic Gold. Pulling the double McTwist 1260 during his victory lap Wednesday night only proves what a competitor he truly is. It’s like watching Michael Jordan during his prime!
