According to the Associated Press, Kevin Pearce's condition continues to improve, although the snowboarder is still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of The University of Utah hospital. As he slowly regains consciousness, doctors have been able to remove his breathing tube, and he is able to follow commands. His condition has been upgraded from critical to serious.
The 22 year old Pearce was seriously injured on December 31, 2009 in a training accident as he practiced in the halfpipe at Park City Mountain Resort in Utah. As always, our thoughts and prayers are with Kevin and his family as he begins the long road to recovery.
