Professional snowboarder and 2010 Winter Olympic hopeful Kevin Pearce suffered a traumatic brain injury last week while training for the U.S. snowboarding Olympic qualifiers. While riding the pipe in Park City, Utah, Pearce slammed his head on the halfpipe, knocking himself unconscious. He was immediately flown to the University of Utah's Intensive Care Unit, where he remains in stable condition. According to reports from the Associated Press, doctors have Pearce sedated while they monitor his brain pressure. At the time of the fall, Pearce was wearing a helmet.
Pearce also suffered a concussion several weeks ago at Copper Mountain in Colorado while training for the Olympics. A facebook group has been setup for well-wishers and updates. Please keep your thoughts and prayers with Kevin and his family as we all hope for a speedy recovery.
