Professional Snowboarder Louie Vito made his much-anticipated debut on ABC's Dancing with the Stars last night, coming out alongside partner Chelsie Hightower. First things first, let me say this: Vito proves, without a doubt, that snowboarders can clean up very well! The difference between him on stage with Chelsie versus his normal snowboarder look was amazing.
I'll be honest and admit that I didn't watch more than 30 seconds of his dance segment - I was far too preoccupied watching Peyton Manning take on the Miami Dolphins and their Wildcat offense on Monday Night Football - but from what the women in my life have told me, he performed admirably on the dance floor. I can't say this is a complete surprise, however, because it seems as though the athletes invited on the show always do fairly well - Emmit Smith, Apollo Anton Ono, Kristi Yamaguchi and Shawn Johnson won the whole thing, while Jason Taylor and Warren Sapp both came close.
With the way Vito spins, twists and flips through the air on a snowboard (he's one of the heavyweight favorites to make the U.S. squad for the upcoming 2010 Olympics), he should do well dancing. Let's just hope, for the U.S. Snowboard Team's sake, he doesn't injure himself like Tom "The Hammer" Delay recently did!
