Burton Competition Down Under Set to Begin

From Christopher Del Sole, About.com Guide   August 11, 2009

The Burton New Zealand Open Snowboard Championships are officially underway at Cardrona Alpine Resort in New Zealand, with rider registration having been completed. World class talent will be showcased, with riders like Torstein Horgmo, Chas Guldemond, Danny Kass, Antti Autti, Hana Beaman and Kelly Clark set to take part in the events over the next several days.

As a part of the Burton Global Open Series, the New Zealand Open will serve as an Olympic preview, especially on the halfpipe side, where riders will be spinning and boosting over 22 foot high walls, the same size as the Olympic halfpipe at this year's 2010 games in Vancouver.

Although the event will not be televised in the U.S., both the semi-finals and finals will be shown live on the Internet, thanks to Go211.com. The live feed begins on Thursday, August13th.

I have seen some video from this event and it is sick. It is a dream of mine to ride down in New Zealand.
