Springtime in the Rocky Mountains

From Christopher Del Sole, About.com GuideMarch 17, 2009

Day three of my western tour has begun, with plans to ride Vail today. Yesterday we spent the day ripping around the Stone Creek chutes at Beaver Creek, and the snow was fantastic! Springtime has definitely come to the Rocky Mountains, with wall-to-wall sunshine and soft, gorgeous snow as far as the eye can see. Speaking of Beaver Creek, I'd be remiss if I failed to mention COOKIE-TIME! That's right - Beaver Creek gives out free cookies everyday at 3 p.m., served on silver trays by employees wearing white gloves. Aside from being free, the cookies are amazing!

Dinner last night was at the ultra-posh Atwater on Gore Creek restaurant at the Vail Cascades Resort & Spa. The lamb was exquisite, the wine was excellent, and the atmosphere was top-notch. All in all, the Vail region has a ton to offer everyone, from park-rat rippers to groomed-snow guys and gals.

It's time to go head out to explore Vail's legendary Back Bowls. Check back here for more about the trip tomorrow!
