As the oldest continuously published periodical in North America, the New Hampshire-based Old Farmer's Almanac (not to be confused with The Farmer's Almanac, which comes out of Maine) has gained near-cult status amongst skiers and snowboarders. Using a "secret formula developed by Almanac founder Robert B. Thomas in 1792," the Almanac claims 80% accuracy over the years.
This year's outlook sees below-normal temperatures and normal to slightly above-normal precipitation for the resort-heavy Northeast and Rocky Mountain regions, while the Pacific Northwest and Upper Midwest regions experiencing a warmer than normal winter with below-normal levels of precipitation.
